The first Brazilian to wear the middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg) in Ultimate, Murilo Bustamante has advice for Alex Poatán. Analyzing the quality of the current champion, the veteran pointed out the direction for his compatriot to remain at the absolute top of the group. In April, the São Paulo native attempts his first title defense in a rematch with Israel adesanya.

“Poatan is a very tough stop, due to his height and power of blows. I was very happy with his victory. Another Brazilian holding this belt. I don't know what his ground part is like. I haven't seen him fighting on the ground yet. If he trains wrestling, improving his defense, he'll be a 'sick' guy. If you don't take him down to capitalize on the ground, standing up, it's going to be difficult. If he improves his ground defense, he will hold the belt for a while”, said Murilo, in an interview with 'Portal do Vale Tudo'.

New Ultimate star, Poatan won the middleweight belt in heroic fashion at the end of 2022. At the time, the athlete endured moments of tension against Adesanya, but staged a real comeback by knocking out his rival in the last round.

No UFC 287, Alex puts the title on the line. The fighter will once again share the octagon with Israel, in a clash that marks the second meeting between the athletes under MMA rules.
