Coming from six consecutive victories in the bantamweight category, the Brazilian Raphael Assunção does not hide the desire to challenge his compatriot Renan Barao for the UFC belt. After overcoming fellow Brazilian Pedro Munoz at UFC 170, last Saturday (22), the athlete from Pernambuco says that his record speaks for itself and that he deserves a shot at the title.

“I was very consistent and my record speaks for itself. I'm happy with my six wins and I think the UFC has to decide. I looked at some of the fighters I passed and I broke their winning streak… I think I deserve to fight for the title”, stated Assunção at the press conference.

With great retrospect and a request made by the Brazilian in the press room, Dana White, president of the franchise, preferred not to argue. “I don't make these decisions after the event, but I think Raphael is in a good place,” said the manager.
