In 2014, the UFC will finally make its first visit to Mexico. This Friday (21), the organization confirmed, through its Twitter, holding the first event in the country in November.
The fights will take place in the capital, Mexico City, including the final of the inaugural season of reality show The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America. The program, which will be filmed in the second quarter of the year, will feature fighters from several Spanish-speaking countries on the continent. The names of the coaches were not announced.
Even though there are some Mexican fighters in the organization, such as Érik Pérez and Will Campuzano, the country's biggest representative in the UFC is the heavyweight champion, Cain Velazquez. He was born in the United States, but his father is Mexican.
With this, Mexico will become the 14th country to host a UFC event. To date, the organization has visited the United States, Canada, Brazil, Australia, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Germany, Sweden, China, Japan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. It is expected that, by the end of this year, Poland and Turkey will also join the list.
