UFC featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.), Alexander Volkanovsky talked about a possible return of Zabit Magomedsharipov to MMA. The Australian, who saw the Russian as a potential rival in the category, declared that he waits for his return and is excited about the chance of a confrontation taking place in the future. He, however, says he prefers to focus his energy on fighting Islam makhachev.

“I was looking forward to this happening (Zabit’s possible return). I want big fights and I feel like he would be in line. There was a lot of hype before and I really thought it could be there. I feel like I was one fight away from fighting for the belt. I was disappointed when I found out he had retired, but now I see he can come back. But after February 12th, after I do what I do, he could end up retiring again, let's see what happens”, said Volkanovski in an interview with the podcast 'Believe you me'.

Undefeated in the company, Alexander has 12 career winning streaks. The fighter, who is considered one of the great names in the history of featherweights (up to 65,7kg), has 25 positive results and one negative result in his career in MMA. He has a scheduled confrontation against Islam makhachev, in February 2023, at UFC 284.

Zabit, in turn, ended his career at the age of 31, with a record of 18 victories – highlights include triumphs against Jeremy Stephens, Kyle Bochniak and Sheymon Moraes – and just one defeat in his career in mixed martial arts. He suffered from injuries during the period, but is already raising the possibility of returning to the organization.
