Former top 5 featherweights (up to 65,7kg.), Zabit Magomedsharipov, once again used his social media to indicate a possible return to the octagon. In a recent post on his Instagram, the Russian suggested a return to MMA.
“The contract is no longer the same,” wrote Zabit.
In the same publication, the athlete's brother reinforced the possibility of a return.
“Everything will change when you return soon,” replied Khasan Magomedsharipov.

The category's prospect had a good streak of victories. In their last confrontation, they won Calvin kattar by decision of the judges, which brought him closer to a title fight.
Despite the good moment, injuries and health problems began to haunt Zabit, forcing him to cancel the clash against Yair Rodriguez in 2020. Since then, the Russian has been unable to return to active duty and has been removed from the featherweight rankings in 2021.
In 2022, the athlete announced his retirement. After the revelation, part of the specialized press even suggested that the fighter would study medicine in Russia.
With the possible return of Magomed, the featherweight category would gain a good boost, as the current champion, Alexander Volkanovsky, will compete for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg.) and Yair Rodriguez will fight for the interim belt against Josh Emmett, in February 2023.
