The UFC nullified lightweight Yancy Medeiros' victory over Yves Edwards, at the Fight for the Troops 3 event, in November 2013. The Hawaiian fighter was found to be undergoing a doping test for using marijuana, so the fight, originally a knockout victory in the first round, became a no-contest (fight without result).

Medeiros, therefore, now has a record of nine wins, one loss and one unsuccessful fight in professional MMA. His only setback was in his UFC debut, when he lost to Rustam Khabilov in April 2013 after dislocating his right thumb in the opening minutes of the fight.

The fighter is scheduled to perform at UFC 172, on April 26, against Joe Ellenberger, the welterweight's twin brother Jake ellenberger. In order to return to the UFC, Medeiros must undergo a new series of tests to prove that he is free of prohibited substances. He also received a 90-day retroactive suspension, which he has already served.
