Conor McGregor clarifies controversy with anti-doping tests and plans return to MMA

Recovering from a serious injury suffered in 2021, the Irishman is the only Ultimate athlete not tested in the current season

Only athlete not tested by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USED) among non-newcomers in 2022, Conor McGregor tried to put an end to yet another controversy involving his name. Recovering from a serious injury suffered last season, the Irishman indicated that he will seek to resolve the situation. Recently, Anthony Smith showed discomfort with the supposed differentiated treatment received by the 'Notório'.

“I will be free to be tested in February. I will complete my two tests on the used one and we will schedule a fight”, wrote McGregor, in his profile on Twitter.

In recent days, the light heavyweight veteran (up to 93kg.) Anthony Smith expressed discomfort with McGregor's current situation. According to the North American, the speed with which the Irishman recovered from a serious fracture in a 'lightning' fashion, different from situations experienced by Anderson Silva e Chris Weidman.

For Smith, Conor had used prohibited substances. The action would have accelerated the healing process.

Former double UFC champion, McGregor has not performed since July 2021. On that occasion, the fighter fractured his left ankle, an incident that led to the knockout suffered in the trilogy against Dustin poirier.
