Promoted to challenger for the vacant UFC light heavyweight (up to 93kg) title, Jan Blachowicz There are plenty of reasons to celebrate. With the serious injury of the now former champion Jiri Prochazka, the Pole received the dreamed opportunity to fight for his former throne in UFC 282 against Magomed Ankalayev, which takes place on December 10th. On social media, the 'giant' celebrated the chance.
“These were the craziest last few hours of my life. I left Warsaw (Poland) to compete in an eliminatory match and, a few hours later, I landed as a challenger for the belt. I'm ready. Keep your fingers crossed,” Blachowicz wrote on his Facebook profile. Twitter.

Even with reasons to celebrate, Jan didn't forget to Jiri Prochazka. The Czech will be out of action for around six months, an estimate made by the fighter himself.
“I have great respect for your conduct, Jiri Prochazka. Get well soon”, he concluded.
Current number two in the light heavyweight rankings, Blachowicz led the category between 2020 and 2021. The athlete was successful in defending his title, but was dethroned in the confrontation against Glover Teixeira No. UFC 267.
Third in the category, Magomed Ankalayev will have his first opportunity to wear the Ultimate title. The Russian arrives for the clash boasting a record of nine positive results in a row.
