After pointing out the name of Beneil Dariush as a possible rival for your future, Dustin poirier seems to have changed his mind. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the former interim lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) ruled out a duel against the Iranian and revealed that he prefers to face 'popular athletes' who enjoy provocations.

“I want big, fun fights. I completed the triangle of violence. I knocked out (Justin) Gaethje, (Eddie) Alvarez and submitted (Michael) Chandler. There are several fights that would be crazy, I just don't know the name right now. No disrespect to (Beneil) Dariush. Great fighter and did it the right way. He's a very respectful, hard-working guy who goes and handles business. I respect that. I'll watch when he fights. When we talk about the names I've fought recently, this one isn't super exciting when I think about it. I want the fun, crazy, potential 'Fight of the Year' fights. These are the fights that give me those butterflies in my stomach every day. This opens doors. I always knew there was a way back to the belt. I knew I could climb the mountain again. I want to get past the killers,” said Poirier.
Number two in the lightweight rankings, Dustin comes from four defeats in his last six fights and has only been defeated in title fights, against Charles of the Bronx e Khabib Nurmagomedov. The 'Diamante' has a record of 29 triumphs and seven setbacks as a sports professional.
