Dana White, president of the UFC, assured that Josh thomson will receive the chance to fight for the lightweight belt if he beats Benson Henderson this Saturday (25), at UFC on Fox 10, which will be held in Chicago, in the United States.
Thomson had been scheduled to face the champion Anthony Pettis, who, in the end, must withdraw from the fight due to a knee injury. In order not to remain inactive, “The Punk” agreed to face Henderson, who is coming off a defeat to Pettis in a title fight.
In an interview with the North American channel Fox Sports, White stated that Thomson will have his chance if he wins. However, the same is not true for Henderson. “The reality is: if Thomson wins, he’s next in line. Of course Ben henderson He lost decisively in his last fight, so if he wins, we'll see what happens to Gil [Gilbert Melendez],” said the UFC president.
The fight between Thomson and Henderson will headline UFC on Fox 10, which means the fight will go five rounds. Three Brazilians will participate in the event: Gabriel Napao faces Stipe Miocic, Adriano Martins faces Donald Cerrone and Hugo “Wolverine” will face Ramiro Hernandez.
