Considered one of the greatest prospects in Ultimate, the flyweight (up to 56,7kg) Muhammad Mokayev plans to beat a record that belongs to the former owner of the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg) Jon Jones. In a press conference after the UFC 280, which took place last Saturday (22), the English promise stated that he intends to become the youngest champion in the organization's history.

“To become the youngest UFC champion, it would have to happen in March 2024…end of March. March 29th or 30th, that's how I projected it. I have plans. I prepare every day and I count each day. I believe I will fight for the interim belt at the end of next year. Who had three fights in six or seven months at flyweight? I only know one guy (besides me), it's Rustam Khabilov, who had four fights in the UFC in one year. And he was in my corner, so…” Mokaev said.
Hired by the UFC in early 2022, Mokaev has already had three fights in eight months in his new home and won all of his commitments. To beat Jones' record, the 22-year-old undefeated prospect would have to win the belt before turning 23 years and eight months old, a goal achieved by 'Bones' when he took over the light heavyweight reign.
