The most difficult fight of Shane del Rosário's career has come to an end. After suffering a heart attack and spending 13 days in a coma, the fighter succumbed to complications and died in hospital. The news of his death was revealed on the official UFC website on Monday night (09).
Rosário's death was reported by some outlets last week. But the fighter showed surprising improvement and went through a period of time breathing without life support. However, he did not survive the complications of heart failure and died.
As soon as the announcement of his death was released, Ian McCall, also a UFC athlete, used his Facebook account to praise his friend and mourn his loss. “Rest in peace one of the best people I have ever had the honor of having in my life and who I call my best friend. Shane Del Rosario helped me through the most difficult time of my life and helped me raise my daughter. I love you,” McCall wrote.
Heavyweight Shane Del Rosario suffered a heart attack on Tuesday, November 26, as a result of what doctors believe was caused by a congenital heart disease called Long QT Syndrome (LQTS). He spent 13 days at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach until he passed away this evening.
