An MMA veteran for more than a decade, Roxanne Modafferi has been waiting for the chance to step into the most famous Octagon on the planet for a long time. However, the former Strikeforce belt challenger, recognized in The Ultimate Fighter due to her friendliness and joy, she was disappointed with the repercussions of her defeat against Rachel Pennington last Saturday (30), on the main card of the TUF 18 Finale.
“I had three objectives in the fight: do the techniques that my coach John Wood taught me and perform well; prove that I deserve to be in the UFC; and win the fight. If I did the first two, the third would come naturally. I achieved the first goal! Someone I respect said, ‘You belong here!’ I was so happy I started crying. But then I read a lot of negative opinions on the ‘MMA Underground Forums’ (specialized forum) and now I’m depressed. Even my friends on the forum who normally supported me think I don't deserve it. They said my striking was the worst they had ever seen in the UFC. Oh, man… :(“, wrote the “Happy Warrior” on her personal blog.
Another issue that bothered the fighter was the way specialized news reported her cartel. “It bothers me a lot when websites write something like ‘this is Roxanne’s sixth consecutive defeat’. IT'S NOT, man! Because I won my fight to enter the (TUF) house. This won't go on paper, because it's TUF. But in my mind it's not six fights in a row with defeat. This was my 28th fight. I'm on a two-fight losing streak, damn it! There is a difference!” she complained. Finally, Roxanne celebrated the fact that she fought in Ultimate. “Yesterday I realized a long-time dream. When I smiled for the camera, it wasn't forced. I fought in the UFC!”, she concluded.
