With the victory over Rory McDonald at UFC 167, Robbie Lawler was the highlight of the most recent update to the official Ultimate rankings. With the result, the American veteran rose from tenth to third place among welterweights, surpassing, among other fighters, MacDonald himself. Beyond the champion Georges St Pierre, only John hendricks, which remains number one in the division, and Carlos Condit follow in front of Lawler.
Also victorious in the 20th anniversary event of Ultimate, Russian Ali Bagautinov debuted in the flyweight rankings in eighth place. Rashad evans e Donald Cerrone, who also triumphed on the night, gained one position each and now occupy, respectively, third place among light heavyweights and ninth place in light heavyweights.
The only Brazilian to change his position in the update, Demian Maia fell to sixth place in the welterweight category rankings. Even without acting over the weekend, and coming off a loss to Jake Shiels at UFC Barueri, Maia was harmed by the rise of Robbie Lawler.
