Douglas D'Silva lives battle, but ends up defeated by Said Nurmagomedov at UFC Las Vegas 58

Brazilian alternates between good and bad times and is unable to extend the sequence of positive results in the company

First Brazilian to climb into the octagon UFC Las Vegas 58, held this Saturday (9), Douglas D'Silva lived a real battle. Opponent of Said Nurmagomedov On the main card, the bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg) had a tough fight, but didn't do enough to achieve a positive result, falling victim to the volume of blows and greater size of his rival. After three busy rounds, the Russian was declared the winner with a unanimous decision.

With the defeat, Silva is unable to expand his good phase in the company. Before this weekend's event, the native of Pará had accumulated two consecutive victories.

The fight

The confrontation began with Douglas taking the initiative with a low kick. Soon after, the Brazilian managed to get to his opponent's back and pressed his rival against the bars. With a smaller size, Silva chose to fight at close range and didn't give his opponent space. After almost two minutes, Said managed to reverse the situation and moved away from the Tupiniquim. With around two minutes left in the half, Nurmagomedov tried to surprise with two round kicks, but the blows stopped in the Pará native's guard. Close to the end of the assault, Douglas shook the Russian with a cross, but Said responded in kind. In the final seconds, the Russian attempted a takedown, but there was no more time.

In the second stage, the first attack was launched by Nurmagomedov, with a straight shot followed by a low kick, which unbalanced the Brazilian. With just over a minute left, Silva tried to shorten the ball and threw a cross, but the blow went empty. In the middle of the stage, Said bet on high kicks and the belt line, but the man from Pará didn't stop walking towards his rival. Near the final minute, the Russian attempted a takedown again, but the native of Brazil defended himself well. In the final seconds, Silva hit his rival with a round punch, and Nurmagomedov ended up falling. Silva tried to go up, but there was no more time.

The third round began with Said risking another spinning punch. In a moment of mastery, Silva dodged, reached his opponent's back and pinned the Russian to the ground. Nurmagomedov managed to stay on his feet, but the Brazilian was still clinging to his opponent. After the scare, the Russian managed to free himself and the fight was fought again in the center of the octagon. With three minutes left in the fight, Nurmagomedov 'flew' at the Brazilian's legs and managed the takedown. Immediately, Douglas was able to stand. Said launched another high kick, but ended up losing his balance. Douglas went up and started working on ground and pound. In the final minute, Said tried to attract the Brazilian into his guard and received kicks to the legs. Without much combativeness, the referee made the fight return to standing. Close to the end of the fight, the athletes exchanged blows near the bars until the timer ran to zero.

In the only fight between heavyweights (up to 120,2kg) in the UFC Las Vegas 58, the long-awaited knockout happened. In a confrontation of 'desperate', Chase sherman got the better of Jared Vanderaa. After two balanced rounds, the athlete found victory in a brutal way, knocking out his opponent in the last round.

With the triumph, Sherman breathes a sigh of relief in the company. Before facing Jared, the athlete had accumulated four consecutive defeats.

Celebration on one side, sadness on the other. Run over at the event, Vanderaa had his bad moment amplified. Now, the fighter has had four stumbles in a row and could be placed on the dreaded layoff list.

TUF 29 champion goes bad and loses first in UFC

TUF 29 bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), Ricky Turcios was unsuccessful in his second appearance with the Ultimate gloves. Opponent of Aiemann Zahabi, the athlete performed discreetly and ended up being defeated after three rounds of confrontation. After the fight ended, the Canadian was declared the winner with a unanimous decision by the judges.

With the result, Turcios' dream of getting closer to the bantamweight elite was postponed. The athlete's last negative result had occurred in 2018.

Despite the lackluster victory, Zahabi has reason to celebrate. With the triumph, the Canadian reaches his second consecutive victory.

Jamie Mullarkey overcomes Michael Johnson in electrifying fight

Breathtaking. There was no lack of excitement in the fight that opened the main card of the event. Lightweight representatives (up to 70,3kg.), Jamie Mullarkey e Michael Johnson They left everything in the Octagon and staged a frank confrontation for the show's spectators. After 15 minutes of intense combat, Jamie was declared the winner in a split decision.

With the triumph, Jamie recovers from the harsh defeat he suffered against jalin turner in March. Now, the athlete has three triumphs in the last five appearances.

Outmatched in the even fight, Johnson did not hide his frustration with the defeat. After the stumble, the veteran is unable to achieve a new sequence of positive results.
