Cody Brundage beats Tresean Gore with brutal first-round knockout

The best of the preliminary card really came to the end. In the last fight of the first half of the UFC Las Vegas 58, valid for the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg), Cody Brundage brutally knocked out Tresean Gore in the first round. Brundage took advantage of the gap left by Gore after a low kick and connected with a clean right that took his opponent immediately to the ground and completed the job with a devastating “ground and pound”.

The victory over Tresean Gore is the second in a row for Cody Brundage in the UFC. The 26-year-old athlete was coming off a submission triumph over Dalcha Lugiambula in March.

After a balanced first round fought mostly on the feet, the Ugandan took the fight to the ground in the second round, landed a katagatame and put the North American to “sleep”.

The victory over Armfield was the second in a row for david onama from the UFC. The Ugandan's last defeat happened on his debut with the organization, in October last year.

Garrett Armfield, in turn, debuts with defeat in the UFC octagon. The North American, who agreed to face Onama during the week of the event, saw his three-fight winning streak come to an end.

Valid in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg), the second fight of the night ended with Kennedy Nzechukwu overcoming Karl Robertson by technical knockout in the third round. In a duel between two athletes known for their stand-up fighting skills, the Nigerian surprised and used and abused the takedown game, but without managing to be very effective in his submission attempts. At 26 years old, Saidyokub Kakhramonov now has two wins in two fights in the UFC. The Uzbek has not been defeated since February 2019.
