Even without experiencing the best moment of his career, after losing to Chris Weidman the middleweight belt he has held since 2006, Anderson Silva continues to have complete trust from his team. In an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website, Ed Soares, Spider's agent, reiterated that he still considers the Brazilian the best pound-for-pound of all time and bet on Anderson winning in the event of a hypothetical superfight against Jon Jones, currently the leader of the overall Ultimate rankings.
“I believe Anderson is the best fighter on the planet, period. Whatever the division. He offers more danger to whoever he faces than others offer him. Can it be beaten? Of course you can. Everyone can be beaten, but put him against any fighter, in any category, and I think he has a better chance of winning than them beating him,” said Soares.
When talking about a possible superfight between Anderson and Jon Jones, the agent didn't hesitate and bet on the Brazilian. “I think Anderson can hit Jon Jones. Not belittling Jon Jones. He's an incredible athlete, but he doesn't have the same experience. I think a well-trained Anderson would win Jon Jones”, Finished.
Before thinking about a super fight against Jon Jones or any other fight involving the best of all time, Anderson Silva has the chance to return to the top of the middleweight division. On December 28th, Spider faces Chris Weidman in one of the most anticipated rematches in Ultimate history. The clash is the main fight of UFC 168, which takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas (USA).
