Napão achieves UFC record and dreams of heavyweight belt

Brazilian reached his 11th victory before the judges' decision and equaled Frank Mir's mark in heavyweight

Gabriel NapaoGabriel Napao promised and fulfilled. The Brazilian revealed that he would seek the knockout against Shaw Jordan, last Saturday, and needed just 93 seconds to fulfill his promise. As a bonus, he even equaled the former champion's record Frank mir among the heavyweights with 11 victories before the judges' decision.

“All my victories were before the referees’ decision”, remembers Napão. “Being part of UFC history is great, and being in the statistics alongside a champion is even better. I train to be prepared for any unforeseen event and to always be alert to any opportunity to end the fight in the first round. Once again, it worked. This gives me even more energy to continue training.”

Coming off three triumphs in 2013, Napão is already aiming for a chance to compete for the title of Ultimate's most noble category. “I always fight hoping to win, but I recognize that my performance is better than imagined. I feel like I'm on the path to establishing myself in the category and another step has been taken to try to compete for the title again. I still see a lot of people in front of me. I know how to have patience to get where I want,” he concluded.
