the american Jon Jones is scheduled to defend the light heavyweight belt against Alexander Gustafson at UFC 165, an event that takes place next Saturday (21), in Toronto, Canada. But despite the challenge against the Swedish fighter, the champion is always asked about Glover Teixeira, who will be the next challenger for the title. Despite praising the Brazilian, Jones claims that he is not ready to beat him.

“He (Glover) showed signs of being a high-level fighter. I don’t think he’s ready to beat me,” said Jon, in an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting. Then, the champion pointed out the blows suffered by Teixeira in the fight against Ryan bader, in Belo Horizonte, as a key to a possible challenge.

“Taking hard punches from Bader showed me where he is. No matter what his excuse is, it happened. If you're a veteran and you say you allowed overconfidence to be your weakness, it's still a weakness that you allowed it.”

With great confidence, Jones also spoke of another possible opponent in his line: the heavyweight Daniel Cormier. UFC president, Dana White, wants the winner of the Strikeforce GP to move down to face Jon, but the champion doesn't seem to agree with the manager. “To be honest, I don't think Daniel really deserves a big fight. I don't respect him as a person. I think fighting me would be the opportunity of a lifetime. I don't think I have much to gain from beating Cormier, because nobody knows who he is, and he hasn't really proven much yet,” he said.
