Former champion and considered by many to be the greatest name in the history of the UFC featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg), José Aldo can “jump the queue” TJ Dillashaw and become the next challenger for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg). Through social media, the Brazilian challenged the current champion aljamain sterling and received an encouraging response from the North American.

On his official Twitter profile, José Aldo remembered that aljamain sterling had stated that he would be next in line on merit and asked Dana White to send him the fight contract as soon as possible.
"aljamain sterling, you said that I would be next on merit and I am here accepting your challenge. Dana White, send me the contract soon, before he changes his mind”, wrote the former featherweight champion.
Even though he did not directly respond to the challenge of José Aldo, aljamain sterling He made it clear that he agreed with the fight.
“Hey, Dana White, when are we having a meeting? We clearly have a lot to discuss. PS: Go watch the first round again. You are WRONG”, wrote the bantamweight champion in response to Aldo’s “tweet”.
Owner of seven featherweight belt defenses, José Aldo moved down to bantamweight in 2020. After losing his first two fights in the division, including the vacant title fight against Petr yan, the Brazilian scored three consecutive victories and occupies third place in the ranking, behind TJ Dillashaw, Petr yan and the champion aljamain sterling.
