Continuing with its global expansion plan, the UFC announced plans for several events in Europe in 2014. According to executive Garry Cook, the organization's intention is to hold events in Sweden, England, Poland, Ireland, Turkey and Germany in next year.
Among the announced locations, Ireland draws attention and appears to be justified as the host site due to the phenomenon Conor McGregor. The fighter, undefeated since 2010, has been one of the organization's most popular names and mobilized Boston's Irish community at last weekend's UFC Fight Night 26 event, when he won Max Holloway by unanimous decision of the judges.
Of the confirmed destinations, four have already hosted events on other occasions: England (14 times, with one edition yet to take place in October this year), Sweden (twice), Germany (twice) and Ireland (once). The other two countries, Turkey and Poland, will host Ultimate for the first time in their history.
