A true show of resistance. The phrase can summarize the co-main fight of the Bellator 275, held this Friday (25), in Dublin (IRL). Last victim of Chris Cyborg in the organization, Sinead Kavanagh was able to endure around 10 minutes of playing with a knee injury against Leah McCourt. The athlete knew how to minimize the drama and, after three rounds, was declared the winner with a unanimous decision by the judges.

With the victory, Kavanagh advances in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg) and once again dreams of a title fight. In her last match, the Irishwoman was badly beaten by Cyborg, in a title match.

Defeated in the show, McCourt didn't know how to take advantage of her opponent's complications. A promise from the organization, the athlete from Northern Ireland suffered her second stumble in eight appearances in MMA. The fighter still didn't know what it was like to lose in Bellator.

The fight

Right at the beginning of the confrontation, McCourt showed his game plan and took Kavanagh to the ground. On top, Leah tried to pass the guard and tried a submission. Comfortable, the athlete controlled the actions, while the Irish only defended herself. From below, Sinead surprised and managed to reverse the position and try a Kimura. With the position in place, Leah showed her resistance and bravely managed to get out of the position, driving the audience crazy. The confrontation was fought again, but there was no more time.

In the second stage, the athletes began grappling in the opening seconds. With an advantage, Kavanagh pressed her rival against the bars and tried to extend the good moment. Halfway through the round, McCourt managed to trip his opponent, but ended up falling on the bottom. Leah managed to stay on her feet and Sinead remained 'glued' to her opponent. In the final minute, Kavanagh started to attack with ground and pound. Kavanagh ended up showing signs of having injured his knee and collapsed after an imbalance. Leah tried to take advantage of the good moment, but the timer ran to zero.

Noticing Kavanagh's injury, McCourt started attacking her opponent's knee from the opening seconds of the last round. Sinead changed bases, but visibly felt her rival's attacks. Kavanagh managed to get closer and went into a grappling fight. McCourt reversed and took down her opponent. On top, Leah struck, while Sinead just protected herself. In the final seconds, Kavanagh managed to get on top and attacked his opponent with 'hammers', but there was no more time.
