The welterweight Robbie Lawler left Seattle with many reasons to celebrate. In addition to the knockout given to Bobby Voelker, in the second round, the North American was also the highest paid fighter at UFC On FOX 8, an event held last Saturday (27).
Lawler took home a purse worth $156. Half of this amount (US$78 thousand) was paid as a victory bonus. After Lawler, the biggest salary of the event was paid to Melvin Guillard. The lightweight earned US$84, including US$42 as a bonus for beating Mac Danzig, also by knockout. Guillard's salary does not include the bonus for delivering the best knockout of the night.
Flyweight champion since 2012 and member of the list of the ten best fighters pound for pound in the UFC rankings, Demetrious Johnson does not enjoy as much prestige in the organization, at least on the financial side. To defend his belt for the second time, the American received US$58 (including US$29 for the victory bonus), only the fifth highest salary paid at UFC On FOX 8.
Defeated in her UFC debut, the Brazilian Jessica Andrade received US$8 thousand. The American Liz Carmouche, who beat the Paraná native, received a salary of $24 (with $12 as a victory bonus).
