“Anderson has everything to come back even better. He defended the belt for seven years and it's normal that he can't maintain 100% all the time. It's difficult to stay focused all these years. It's actually a great story, because he lost and now he's going to win it all back again. I'm sure of that. Anderson focused, dedicating himself a lot to training, with the intention of getting the belt back, won't be available to anyone. He’s better than Weidman,” he said.
Erick sets aside assumptions that Anderson Silva would have mocked Weidman. He believes that his friend's first defeat in the UFC will make him come back even more determined.
“I've always said that Anderson is my idol and I look up to many of his things to use in my fighting style. I say this not just because he is my friend. Anderson is really good and, if you look closely at the video of the fight, you'll notice that he was fine, but unfortunately the punch landed hard. When you enter the octagon there is always the possibility of losing. He is very focused and will turn things around,” he added.
