Dustin Poirier reveals he is close to an agreement to face Nate Diaz

A fight between the athletes was scheduled in November 2018, but ended up being canceled due to an injury to 'Diamante'

After losing to Charles of the Bronx No. UFC 269 for the lightweight belt fight (up to 70,3kg.), it seems that Dustin poirier you already know who your next opponent will be in Ultimate. In an interview with 'Teddy Atlas Royal', the 'Diamond' stated that he has a principle of agreement to measure forces against Nate diaz. He, however, preferred not to bring forward the stipulated date for the confrontation to take place.

“I'm not holding my tongue, but (my next opponent) is Nate diaz. I won't say which card or a date. He said something like, 'Let's go,' and I said yes. Now, I’m just waiting for him,” assured Poirier.

The duel could mark the transition from Dustin poirier to welterweights (up to 77 kg). After a failed attempt to become lightweight champion, “Diamante”, who has already played in the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg), raised the possibility of moving up a division.

The favorite of the North American fans, Diaz has not performed since the defeat to Leon edwards, in June 2021. At the time, the fighter returned to the octagon after a hiatus of almost two years, but ended up defeated by unanimous decision from the judges.
