Bellator President avoids talking about Lyoto Machida's retirement and projects new fights for the Brazilian in 2022

Scott Coker says that 'Dragon' is a legend of the sport and wants to see him in action in the organization in March or April

Sports legend, Lyoto Machida He is experiencing one of his worst moments in his career. At 43 years old, 'Dragão' has three consecutive defeats in his last fights. Still, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie', Bellator president Scott Coker ruled out talk of retirement and plans other fights for the Brazilian in the organization.

“He has done a lot for the sport and, for me, he is a legend. We'll let you decide to close whenever you want. He wants to fight and we will occupy him again. He is a fighter who should fight in March or April. We want to get all the big stars to fight between now and April. He had some defeats, but he came through 'killer' opponents. We think he still has gas in the tank,” said Scott Coker.

Known for his counterpunching style, Lyoto is one of karate's greatest references in mixed martial arts. In his heyday, the Brazilian was UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) with a brutal knockout over Rashad evans.

Professional since 2003, Machida has a record of 26 positive results and 11 negative results in his MMA career. He is, for many, one of the greatest Brazilian representatives to step into the cage.
