Responsible for allowing Capoeira massacre on rival, referee is harshly criticized by Cormier

“Honestly, the worst performance I've seen from a referee in my life. It's a difficult job. Have respect for the good ones, Jason Herzog, John McCarthy, Herb Dean and many others. I hated watching that. I hope Benoit goes straight to the hospital,” wrote DC on his Twitter account.

Quoted directly by Daniel, McCarthy, legendary referee from the early years of Ultimate, also spoke out against Kiselev.

“I just watched the worst work within the UFC. Please don’t let him have another fight ever again,” John posted.

All the confusion happened in the second stage. Capoeira led a 'massacre session' against Benoit, who was making his debut in Ultimate. The Frenchman, at one point, was unable to protect himself and seemed knocked out on his feet.

Even though he showed resistance, the Frenchman was unable to react. Elizeu even questioned the referee during the massacre, suggesting an interruption.

After the controversy, the confrontation continued. After enduring a real beating in the octagon, Benoit managed to make it to the end of the last round. In the official result, the Brazilian was declared the winner in the unanimous decision of the judges.
