A record messes with the head of Jon Jones. As soon as his next defense of the UFC light heavyweight belt was announced against Alexander Gustafson, the champion went to Twitter comment on the fight and the opportunity to reach a historic milestone in its category.

“I'm sure you all heard the news. On September 21, 2013 I will make history in Toronto… This is the most important fight of my entire career”, said Jones, referring to the chance to isolate himself as the record holder for title defenses in the light heavyweight division. He currently has five – which puts him tied with Tito Ortiz.

Jon “Bones” Jones faces Alexander Gustafson in the main fight of UFC 165, on September 21, in Montreal (Canada). The light heavyweight champion has a record of 18 wins and just one loss – suffered against Matt Hamill, in 2009, due to illegal elbows applied.
