Former strawweight champion, Weili Zhang explains why she deserved an immediate rematch against Namajunas

Defeated by Rose namajunas No. UFC 261, Wheili Zhang got her immediate rematch to try to regain the strawweight belt (under 52,2kg). In an interview with 'The Schmo' channel, the Chinese fighter believes she deserves the new duel and explained the reasons.

“I think it's because more fans want to see me against Rose again. I feel really good and ready. I'm so happy and I'm getting better every day. I'm training at 'Fight Ready' and there are names like Henry Cejudo, Eddie Cha and Eric Albarracin. It's very special to be here. I think our technique is good. I'm working on wrestling, jiu-jitsu and my striking. I’m getting better than before,” Zhang said.

The first Chinese champion in UFC history, 'Magnum' was the owner of the strawweight belt between 2019 and 2020. Zhang assumed the throne of the 52,2kg division by knocking out the Brazilian Jessica Andrade, made her first defense against former champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk and was subsequently dethroned by Namajunas. The Asian fighter has an MMA record of 21 triumphs and two setbacks.
