“You all know what happened to my fight. You all know that Aljo (aljamain sterling) ran like a cowardly fugitive. I'm not going to sit around and wait for him. I'm going to fight on October 30th in Abu Dhabi and I would like to make a request to the UFC. UFC, give me any fighter. Top five, top seven, top 10, anyone who deserves to fight for the title and I will do my job. I will show you who the real champion is,” he stated.

The possibility of creating an interim belt in the bantamweight division is being discussed by the UFC. Third place in the division ranking, Cory Sandhagen is the favorite to face Petr yan for the title, since second place, TJ Dillashaw, also underwent surgery and will not be available in 2021.
