The long-awaited fight for the UFC lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg) between Charles of the Bronx e Dustin poirier should be made official soon. According to information from the North American website MMAFighting.com, the duel should be the main fight of the UFC 269, on December 11th.

If the fight comes to fruition, Dustin poirier will be the first challenger for the Charles of the Bronx. The Brazilian won the lightweight title by defeating Michael chandler by technical knockout in the main fight of UFC 262, in May this year, in the dispute for the vacant belt. The triumph over Chandler was Charles' ninth consecutive victory in Ultimate. The 31-year-old São Paulo native's last defeat occurred in December 2017.
On the other side, Dustin poirier qualified for the lightweight title fight by winning seven of his last eight fights in the octagon, the last two against the former champion Conor McGregor. The American had the opportunity to fight for the belt when it was still vacant, but chose to complete the trilogy against the Irishman.
If confirmed, the fight between Charles of the Bronx e Dustin poirier it will be the second title fight confirmed on the card of UFC 269. So far, the event features a fight for the bantamweight title (up to 61,2 kg) between Amanda nunes e Julianna Pena.
