Giga Chikadze's coach, Rafael Cordeiro celebrates his pupil's victory and projects his future in the organization

Featherweight trainer (up to 65,7kg) Giga Chikadze, Brazilian Rafael Cordeiro did not hide his excitement with the important triumph in UFC Las Vegas 35 last Saturday (28). The Tupiniquim coach celebrated the knockout over Edson Barboza and promised a great future for his pupil.

"I am really happy. Giga is on a very strong streak, with seven consecutive victories with great performances. He's a kid who just joined the UFC and is already tipped to fight for the belt. We are very happy with the work that has been done. We are a team and this boy is like a son to me. The pride I'm feeling today, I'm sure it will go far. I'm very happy”, declared Rafael in an interview with 'Combate'.

With the categorical victory over Edson, the Brazilian coach believes that the Georgia fighter will have an excellent future ahead of him.

“Let's sit down, see what will happen next...anything can happen. Giga proved today that you can no longer doubt him. Whoever bet on Barboza today, with all due respect, lost money and regretted it. It’s time to look at Chikadze with a little more affection because he has a future”, concluded Cordeiro.

After achieving the ninth consecutive victory in his career, Giga moved up two steps and is now in eighth place in the featherweight division. His last defeat was in June 2018, when he was submitted by Austin Springer on the reality show 'Contender Series'. The fighter has a record of 14 triumphs and two setbacks in professional MMA.
