Fedor Emelianenko declares interest in boxing exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr.

The Russian declared that he wants to perform in the noble art, but does not want to face opponents from outside the sport, such as YouTubers

With a date set to return to the Bellator cage, Fedor Emelianenko plans to venture into other sports besides MMA. The Russian legend stated that he is interested in having an exhibition boxing fight.

The statement was made in an interview with Russian journalist Igor Lazarin. Fedor, however, said that he doesn't want to face non-athletes at the exhibition, but rather a renowned boxer like Roy Jones Jr.

“I would be interested. I have worked with Denis Lebedev and other boxers. I've been boxing since 2000, so it would be interesting to do this fight. But I don't want to face bloggers or singers, anyone from outside the sport. Roy Jones is a boxing legend, so it would definitely be interesting to face him,” explained Fedor.

At 52 years old, Roy Jones Jr. retired from professional boxing in 2018. The American returned to the ring in 2020, when he faced the former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in an exhibition fight. In recent months, Jones has expressed a desire to do it again and have more fights of this type.

Fedor Emelianenko, in turn, continues to be active in professional MMA at 44 years old. The Russian returns to the Bellator cage on October 23, in the organization's first event in Moscow, the capital of Russia, with no opponent yet defined.
