In an interview with 'ESPN' North American, Woodley stated that she intends to continue in the sport and considers that she has always had a 'boxing side' in her career.
“I’m into boxing now. He (Jake Paul) is my first opponent. It's just everyone's first chance to watch me box. Then I'll fight real boxers and they'll have a big problem to deal with with me. (…), but also, I'm preparing accordingly, as if I were fighting Canelo (Alvarez). I’m training like this,” said Tyron.
Considered, by many, as one of the greatest welterweight fighters in the history of MMA, the North American lost four fights in a row before leaving Ultimate. Now, he explains that he wasn't as motivated to pursue mixed martial arts, but that he is 'loving' boxing training.
“This is fun for me. MMA hasn't been fun the last five years. I'm loving the (boxing) training period. I'm there every day (…), I've always been a boxer in the body of an (MMA) fighter. This has been my thing all along. I always wanted to box. So this is just my chance to go out there and have fun, be free and let those hands come in.”
The duel against the YouTuber will mark the first appearance of the former Ultimate leader after the athlete left the organization. In MMA, there were 27 fights, 19 wins, seven losses and one draw.
