However, according to McGregor's trainer, John Kavanagh, the Irishman is not entirely responsible for his actions after the fight. Without naming names, Kavanagh blamed UFC commentator Joe Rogan and hormones.
“His foot was literally hanging off. It's a clean fracture to the fibula and tibia. The two bones were hanging. Imagine the invasion of hormones that happens to his body at a time like this. The pain was on fire. Then someone sits next to him, puts a microphone in your face and asks how you're feeling”, explained Kavanagh in an interview with UFC correspondent Laura Sanko.
Although many people believe that the serious injury could be an end to his career, Conor McGregor in MMA, Kavanagh assured that the former two-division Ultimate champion is still passionate about the sport and has a few more years ahead of him.
“He really loves it. It's hard to imagine he wouldn't want to do it again. I think we have a few more years to go. The future will be good and then great. But for now we will work with daily goals”, concluded Kavanagh.
