in the fight between Omari Akhmedov e Brad Tavares, the balance was remarkable during the three rounds. The American dominated the center of the octagon and was more aggressive, however, the Russian left few blows unanswered. The 'Wolverine' looked for takedowns during much of the duel but was frustrated by his opponent who showed good defense in the Olympic fight. The North American notches his second consecutive victory and should climb a few more steps in the middleweight division rankings (up to 83,9kg). The veteran now has a record of 18 triumphs and six setbacks. Number 13 in the rankings, Akhmedov continues his 'seesaw' of results and once again feels the bitter taste of a setback. Now, the Russian has recorded 21 positive results, six negative results and one draw in professional MMA.
Zhalgas Zhumagulov defeats Jerome Rivera with a standing guillotine choke
The first fight of the night started with Jerome Rivera pressing Zhalgas Zhumagulov and trying to corner him on the railing. The Kazakh fighter defended himself well and responded with heavy counterattacks. Still in the first round, Rivera tried clumsily to take down 'Zhako' and ended up falling into a standing guillotine choke from his opponent. There was no alternative for 'Renegado' other than to knock as a sign of withdrawal.
With the triumph, Zhalgas breaks his uncomfortable streak of two consecutive defeats and gains a 'survival' in Ultimate. The Kazakh fighter now has a record of 14 triumphs and five setbacks in his career. On the other hand, Rivera recorded his fourth negative result in the organization and could have his job threatened in the coming days. The fighter now has 10 wins and 6 losses on his record.
