The last week has been busy for Charles do Bronxs in the UFC. The fighter had his contract renewed for four more fights and received the announcement that he will face the former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. The duel takes place at UFC 162, on July 6, in Las Vegas.
Without fighting since September 2012, when he lost to Cub swanson at UFC 152, Charles will return against the most renowned opponent of his entire career.
“I was taken by surprise with this fight,” he said. “Edgar is the second best in the category and it is an honor to be chosen to face him. This duel will be the greatest challenge of my life and I'm very happy with it. There are a lot of people saying I'm going to lose, but I'm going to prove otherwise. On July 6th I will show that I can beat anyone in the UFC”, added Charles, who has never hidden his desire to face the big names in the category.
“In my first interview when I entered the UFC I made it clear that I would always like to face the best, because it is only by beating the top guys that you can become the best. And that's what's happening, I'm always among the lions. I'm a fan of Edgar and I'm going to train like I've never trained before. I’m ready for a war,” he concluded.
