Gegard Mousasi says he is disappointed not to face Gustafsson

In an official statement, the former Strikeforce champion thanked Ilir Latifi for his willingness to accept the fight

After the announcement that the unknown Ilir Latifi would be the replacement for Alexander Gustafson in the main fight of UFC Sweden 2, next Saturday (6), Gegard Mousasi, his opponent, issued an official statement through his agent. The fighter regretted not being able to face Gustafsson, but took the opportunity to thank Latifi for accepting the fight under such adverse conditions and at short notice.

“Gegard and our team are disappointed that they will not be able to face Alexander Gustafson. However, we understand the business struggles and wish Alex a speedy recovery. We want to thank Ilir for the last minute substitution. Gegard aims to put on a great show with a strong performance for all the fans. Thanks to Dana White, Joe Silva and the rest of the team Zuffa for working so quickly on this issue. Now it’s time to fight and put on a great show for the fans!”, said the message.

Gegard Mousasi will face Ilir Latifi, training partner Alexander Gustafson, in the main fight of UFC Sweden 2, also known as UFC on FUEL TV 9. The event takes place next Saturday (6), at Ericsson Globe Arena, in Stockholm.
