After leaving UFC, Diego Sanchez opens the door to fight in 'bare-knuckle boxing'

North American was cut from the organization after 16 years and does not rule out competing in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC)

Diego Sanchez It may soon be in a new home. After having his contract broken with Ultimate, where he had competed since 2005, the North American ruled out retirement and opened the door to signing a contract and fighting in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship – 'bare-knuckle boxing' event. The statement was given at a press conference to promote the 18th edition of 'BKFC'.

“If I ever join BKFC, yes, that would be fun. I never really liked the gloves in the UFC... So, I think it's better. You have to be smarter. We probably have to have a boxing match first, warm up those hands. But let's see. Let’s keep everything open,” Sanchez said.

What can weigh in favor of 'boxing without gloves' in negotiations is the good relationship between Diego Sanchez and franchise president David Feldman. When asked about the matter, the fighter made a point of praising the president.

“I like Dave, and Dave is a good man. He flew me here, and it's not the first time he's done this. Dave is a guy with his word and I appreciate that”, concluded the American.

Since then, there have been 32 fights in the organization with 19 wins and three losses. In his last fight, the veteran was defeated by Jake matthews by unanimous decision in the UFC 243 in September 2020.
