Fighting to prove that he can still achieve big goals in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg), Ronaldo Jacare is ready for a 'war' against André Sergipano. At a complicated stage in his career, the man from Espírito Santo wants to show that he is 'still alive' and declared that he plans to 'kill' his opponent next Saturday (15). The statement was given in the 'half day' of UFC 262.

“I have to do something (to end the bad phase). Sometimes the 'young lions' kill the 'old lions' but sometimes they die trying. I want to 'kill' this guy. I want to show that 'I'm still alive'”, declared Jacaré.

The Brazilian also spoke about the difficult phase he is going through in his career and commented on the knockout he suffered against Kevin holland in his last fight.

“It was horrible for me. Nobody expects that but he did a great job and beat me. I felt bad after the fight but I lifted my head and continued working. That was crazy and will never happen again. The year (2020) was not good for me. I had never lost three times in a row, not even when I fought jiu-jitsu,” said the Brazilian.

Asked about his opponent next Saturday (15), Jacaré showed knowledge about the style of play of André Sergipano and emphasized his desire to show that he can still be part of the middleweight division's elite again.

“I know he has very good jiu-jitsu. André is a strong guy, a young fighter and I know him because he is from Brazil. He fought good fighters that I know. When they gave me this fight, I only accepted it because I'm not in a good position (in the category) but I'm still alive”, concluded the veteran.

Considered one of the best fighters in the division in recent years, Ronaldo Jacare seems to be far from its glory days. The middleweight is on a complicated streak of three straight defeats in the organization. His last victory was at UFC 230 in November 2018 when he knocked out Chris Weidman in the third round. The fighter has a record of 26 triumphs and nine setbacks.
