McGregor returns to his roots and sends a message to Poirier: 'You woke up the beast'

Known as one of the biggest phenomenons in the history of MMA, Conor McGregor seems to have returned to its origins. Confirmed as an opponent of Dustin poirier No. UFC 264, the Irishman adopted the stance that made him famous worldwide and provoked his opponent. Using social media, the 'Notório' sent a message to his rival before the historic trilogy, which takes place on July 10th.

“On July 10, I will win without fail. (…) Do they want to make a game with tactics? No problem, I'll meet you there. You have awakened the beast, a beast with much more power. Say your prayers,” wrote McGregor on his Instagram account.

The duel that heads the UFC 264 it was confirmed after the tough defeat suffered by Conor in January of this season. At the time, the Irishman returned to the octagon after a one-year hiatus in his career. The duel against Dustin marked the repeat of a confrontation held in 2014, when the 'Notório' easily beat the North American by knockout in the first round, at featherweight (up to 65,7kg).

In the second fight, Poirier showed his evolution as a fighter. Now, at lightweight (up to 70,3kg), the athlete acted intelligently and surprised McGregor in the second round, returning the knockout suffered in the first fight.

The official fight for July has generated a lot of expectation from fans and Ultimate. The company hopes to profit from the clash, which has everything it needs to break audience records.

In addition to promoting the meeting between two great highlights of the organization, Ultimate offers more to athletes. The winner of 'McGregor x Poirier 3' could win the chance to compete for the division's belt.
