The defeat on points suffered against Robert whittaker No. UFC Las Vegas 24 does not seem to have shaken the confidence of Kelvin Gastelum. Experiencing a moment of instability within Ultimate, the North American believes he can still achieve great things in the company. On his social networks, the athlete vented about the situation.

“I still believe I can do the job and be one of the best. I wouldn't say that just to say it. I believe with my heart. I have learned a lot from my opponents and will make the necessary adjustments for my next battle. We’ll be connected next time”, wrote the athlete, in his account on Instagram.
Robert's opponent last weekend, Gastelum accepted the clash without a complete preparation period. The athlete arrived in Las Vegas to replace Paulo borrachinha, the Australian's initial opponent. Out of action after contracting a bad flu, the Brazilian ended up giving way to the North American, who ended up dominated for 25 minutes, losing by unanimous decision from the judges.
Former challenger for the interim middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg), Kelvin seeks to stabilize himself in the category. In his last five challenges, the athlete won in a fight, against Ian Heinisch, in February this season. From 2019 to 2021, Gastelum accumulates defeats against Israel adesanya, Darren till, Jack hermansson and now Whittaker.
Today, Kelvin occupies eighth place in the group ranking. The setback for Robert – first in the category – prevented the American from making a significant leap forward in the division.
