The victory over Nina should make Mackenzie move up important steps in the strawweight division rankings. The jiu-jitsu legend is currently in eleventh place and could get closer to the top-5. Coming from four consecutive victories, Dern's last defeat was in October 2019, to Hannah Cifers.
Returning to the octagon after almost two years, Nina suffered her second consecutive defeat. With a record of 10 wins and seven setbacks, the strawweight should drop a few positions in the category's ranking. Before being submitted by Mackenzie, Nunes was already coming off a negative result after losing to Tatiana Suarez placeholder image, in June 2019.
