Dana White confirms creation of official UFC ranking

The race for UFC titles is about to gain an additional attraction. After some controversial nominations of challengers who did not deserve to fight for the belt, the organization decided to innovate and create a ranking to classify its athletes.

“A ranking ranking for UFC fighters will be a great tool for new fans to keep up with the fast pace of the sport. We always look for opportunities to engage fans and media, allowing them to connect and express their opinions, and the rankings are just one more way to do that,” said Dana White, president of the event, during the event’s press conference. UFC 156.

The director also guaranteed that the new way of classification will bring new fans to the sport. “Everyone loves rankings. Every day, millions of people open the newspaper to find out who is ranked first or last in any sport. I'm sure it will be like that with us too. Our sport is getting bigger and bigger, it grows every day, and this will help bring in even more fans”, added the president.

The ranking, which is scheduled to debut in February, will be developed by Fight Metrics, a website that compiles fight statistics, with the help of 90 members of the specialized press.
