Chris Weidman and his manager believe that his record of nine victories, five of them in the UFC, and no defeats are enough to qualify him for the middleweight belt fight. But it seems that the Brazilian, and current champion of the category, Anderson Silva and its entrepreneurs think differently. As revealed by Dana White, president of Ultimate, to journalists last Saturday, in Chicago, Anderson had rejected a possible title defense against Weidman.

“This is typical of Anderson Silva and Ed Soares (the athlete's manager), crazy. He wants to fight this guy and this guy, it’s always the same thing that happens,” commented White. Still according to Dana, Weidman and his manager approached him asking for the fight, which was proposed and promptly rejected by the champion.

Despite the “Spider's” denial, the UFC president confirmed that Anderson will defend his title soon, but rejected any possibility of this happening in a confrontation against another super champion. “We are waiting for something and when we are ready to announce it, we will announce it. Anderson will defend the title, but not in a superfight”, he concluded.
