Derrick Lewis jokes about the possibility of a UFC title: 'It doesn't fit in the same sentence'

“It would be crazy, really crazy for a guy like me. To go through everything I went through and become the UFC champion. World heavyweight champion. It's crazy to even put it in the same sentence with my name: 'Derrick Lewis, world heavyweight champion”, joked the athlete, in an interview with 'half day'.

Even with his modesty up to date, Lewis has done well in his recent commitments inside the octagon. With three consecutive victories, and currently in fourth place in the group, the fighter evaluated part of his trajectory in Ultimate.

“It's a strange feeling until it's announced that I have the most knockouts, compared to the thousands of other fighters who fought here before me and all the knockout artists they (UFC) have. It's crazy to be number one right now. The way I advanced in the sport, not taking it too seriously. Getting this far in your career”, he concluded.

At 36 years old, Derrick has been a UFC representative since 2014. For the organization, the athlete has, to date, 20 commitments, with 15 triumphs and five defeats.
