One of the protagonists of UFC Las Vegas 19, which takes place this Saturday (20), in the United States, Derrick Lewis can get closer to the belt, if he defeats Curtis blaydes. Although the title is a dream for any MMA athlete, the North American 'forgot' the object and surprised, challenging alistair overeem, before the veteran retires. In an interview with 'half day', Lewis made the statement.

“Don’t go yet. You're still good, man. You can still do it. If Overeem is watching this, you're still good. Look into my eyes, you still can. Don’t give up for them, because I still want a piece of you,” Derrick teased.

One of the highlights of the heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) of Ultimate, Lewis made a point of explaining why he wanted to face the Dutchman, who recently suffered a tough defeat to Alexander Volkov. According to the American, it all comes down to supposed disrespect promoted by Alistair.

“He said I would be an easy fight for him. Easy money. What else did he say? He never turned down a fight, but I believe we challenged him four times in the last three years and he didn't want to,” he concluded.

One of those responsible for spreading MMA to the world in the 2000s, Overeem does not deny that he is close to hanging up his gloves. After the setback to Volkov, at the beginning of February, the 40-year-old Dutchman, who dreamed of a new chance to fight for the UFC belt, moved away from his goal, but did not confirm that he would hang up his gloves.

Currently in fourth place in the group led by Stipe Miocic, Derrick is in a good phase of his career. With three consecutive victories, the American can take an important step towards fighting for the belt, if he overcomes Blaydes this weekend.
