After victory at UFC 258, Usman aims for a rematch against Masvidal and says he would like to face St-Pierre

After knocking out the Brazilian Gilbert Durinho No. UFC 258, Kamaru Usman Already thinking about your next career steps. In a post-event press conference, the welterweight champion (up to 77kg) says he wants to measure strength against Jorge masvidal and 'has his eye' on Georges St-Pierre.

A fight against the American is no stranger to Usman. The Nigerian, who was preparing to face Durinho in the UFC 251, was surprised by the news that the Brazilian had tested positive for COVID-19. Shortly afterwards, Masvidal agreed to replace and headlined the event. In the fight, which took place in July 2020, Kamaru dominated the five rounds and won. But he says he is not satisfied and wants a second duel to 'put him in a coffin'.

“In that fight, he (Jorge masvidal) had an excuse to make. That's the only reason he fought. We tried to do this match twice before and he said no. (…), This time I really want to stop him, because I think it's the only thing that will shut his mouth. I'll put him in a coffin this time. That's why I was disappointed in myself in that last fight. I know I can stop him and despite all the circumstances, I just went out there and dominated him from start to finish. This time, I will stop him from even getting up,” Usman challenged.

With the victory, Kamaru broke the record for consecutive victories in the welterweight division (13), surpassing former champion Georges St-Pierre. When asked about the feat, the Nigerian praised the Canadian and revealed his desire to face him.

“Of course I would like (to fight) Georges St-Pierre. I don't want to face him because of money or anything like that, but I'm a competitor. I want Georges because he retired on a high and can still do it. I see him training. Georges, I’m watching you”, added the fighter.

At 33, Kamaru Usman made his third successful title defense. After knocking out in the third round, the Nigerian won the Ultimate 'Performance of the Night' award. He currently has a record of 18 wins and one loss in his career.
