In publication in 'Instagram', Belfort recalled the moment, in 1997. At the time, the Brazilian was just 19 years old and beat Tra Telligman and Scott Ferrozzo on the same night to become the youngest UFC champion fighter.
“Today marks 24 years since I became the youngest champion in UFC history! At that time the fights still worked as tournaments, so I had to have two fights on the same night with Tra Telligman and Scott Ferrozzo. In the final, 43 seconds were decisive for me to make history and become the youngest champion in UFC history. To get where I am, it took a lot of preparation and faith to achieve my dreams, so never give up on your goals and always train to get there”, wrote Belfort.
The 'Phenomenon' debuted in professional MMA in 1996. Since then, he has had 41 fights in his career, with 26 wins, 14 losses and one draw. Vitor hasn't fought since May 2018, when he was defeated by Lyoto Machida. He currently has a contract with the Asian organization ONE Championship, but has not yet debuted with the company.
