UFC bantamweight Irwin Rivera arrested for double attempted murder

Unfortunate news in the world of MMA. UFC bantamweight representative (up to 61,2kg), Irwin Rivera, was arrested in Florida (USA), accused of attempted murder. According to information from 'MyMMANews.com', the athlete had tried to stab his two sisters. The fighter remains detained in West Palm Beach.

With a fighter from its group of athletes detained, the UFC released a statement regarding the situation. The text was released by 'MMA Fighting'.

“The UFC is aware of the recent incident involving Irwin Rivera and has subsequently received information from its agents that he has been exhibiting behavior consistent with mental health issues. The allegations are extremely concerning and the organization is currently gathering additional information. The investigation is ongoing and any potential next steps, including disciplinary action or medical attention, will be determined after its conclusion. The UFC has informed Rivera’s team that it will not offer him a fight at this time,” the organization announced.

Rivera, 31 years old, debuted in Ultimate in May 2020. To date, the Mexican has made three appearances with the company's gloves, losing two and winning one.

Professional in MMA since 2014, the fighter now has 16 appearances in the sport, with 10 triumphs and six setbacks. His last commitment took place in September, when he lost to Andrew Ewell.
